IMPORTANT INSURANCE INFORMATION
Dear SMC Students and Parents:
Saint Mary’s College requires all full-time undergraduate students to have adequate health and accident insurance. The minimum coverage requirement for health insurance coverage is established by SMC and is listed on the Health and Wellness Center website. This is mandatory for all traditional full-time undergraduate students. The Health & Wellness Center is pleased to announce that Anthem Blue Cross (ABC) will provide our Student Health Plan (Plan) for the next academic year.
The Plan is designed for SMC undergraduate students and assures affordable access to health care. If you already have health insurance that meets the minimum coverage requirements and are interested in waiving out of Saint Mary’s negotiated student Plan, please begin the waiver process online at the SMC Health and Wellness web site. The online waiver form will prompt you to answer questions that will determine if you qualify to waive the student Plan. Please review the following information about waiving-out of insurance.
ALERT EVERY STUDENT MUST WAIVE-OUT OF THE PLAN ONLINE by September 11, 2013. Coverage is effective August 1, 2013 through July 31, 2014 and will be billed each semester.
All students are automatically enrolled in the College negotiated health insurance plan. If you have adequate health insurance coverage, please visit the Health & Wellness Center website and provide the required information for your current plan. This will allow you to waive the Saint Mary’s College negotiated health insurance plan. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________
June 1, 2013 through September 11, 2013.
WAIVING OUT OF THE STUDENT HEALTH PLAN
To waive participation in the Plan, students must have comparable coverage through another insurance plan and complete the online waiver form—have your insurance plan information in-hand when you go online. Waiving insurance for fall semester automatically waives insurance for spring semester as well. You will receive an email confirmation after a successful waiver completion.
The insurance Plan costs $1,380 for coverage from August 1, 2013 through July 31, 2014. You will be charged $690 per semester on your student account if you do not complete the Online Waiver.
No refunds are given after the waiver period ends. Once enrolled, your coverage cannot be cancelled.
If you lose your health insurance midyear, contact the HWC IMMEDIATELY to facilitate enrolling in the SMC negotiated health plan.
THE HEALTH & WELLNESS CENTER IS AVAILABLE TO ALL FULL TIME UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
Open Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm, during the school year.
All full time undergraduate students are eligible to use the Health and Wellness Center at no charge regardless of their insurance coverage.
