A lecturer in the College's Earth and Environmental Sciences department, Croft is an expert on coal, oil and and natural gas energy resources.
Croft's research has appeared in the New York Times and he is available to address news issues surrounding oil spills, continued oil exploration in the Gulf of Mexico and industry investments in coal and natural gas resources.
HIs work has included assessments of global oil and coal resources and research into the economic realities of producing liquid fuel from coal. Croft's recent work on global coal resources suggests that the world's coal mining production capacity will decline in the near term.
Croft's research interest also includes quantifying unconventional natural gas resources located deep within geological formations, such as tight-sand and shale gas reservoirs. He can be contacted at (510) 276-7961 (off campus), or via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
