Janet Ruth Ferraro is the senior business development manager with the NISH AbilityOne Program, which provides jobs to people with significant disabilities. She is also active with the Rotary Club and mentors high school students. Ferraro received a B.A. from Hiram College in education and biology in 1971. Nearly three decades later, she went back to school and received her MBA from Saint Mary’s in 2000.
Through the cohort and team method employed there, she learned that “the combined contributions of the team become greater than the sum of the individual contributions.” Ferraro advises young women: “Remember that for every woman who succeeds today, many women came before them who were prevented from realizing their dreams. Because they dared to challenge and push back on those limits … they helped to pave the way for women of today to find their dreams.”
