Oakland Tribune Interviews SEBA's Jack Rasmus About Occupy's Shutdown of Port of Oakland
The Oakland Tribune spoke with Economics and Politics Professor Jack Rasmus about the future of the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement in the wake of the group's successful shutdown of the Port of Oakland.
Rasmus commented on the movement's possible shifting strategy, moving away from symbolic encampments to collective actions aimed at halting the flow of commerce and profits for major corporations. Cordinated OWS rallies disrupted port operations from Southern California to Anchorage, Alaska, and in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Rasmus teaches in the School of Economics and Business Administration, and the School of Liberal Arts and has authored two books on the country's recession "Prelude to Global Recession" and the upcoming book "Obama's Economy: Recovery for the Few."
