The Oakland Tribune profiles plans for a tribute album and benefit for musician and former Saint Mary's soccer player Michael Gable, '93, who died unexpectedly last year at the age of 38. The SMC alumnus suffered from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a condition in which the heart muscle thickens and fails to pump blood adequately. Gable was a member of the East Bay band "Segue" and the newspaper reports that surviving band members have recorded "One Race Human: A Tribute to Michael Gable," an album to remember him and help raise awareness of the heart illness.
The band will perform at a benefit concert and dinner at the Soda Center at Saint Mary's College at 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010. Proceeds from the benefit performance and dinner will support the "Gable Heart Beats Foundation." To find out about tickets for the event visit www.seguesounds.com
