In a story about software technology used to thwart laptop thieves, such as GadgetTrak, Hidden, and LoJack, PC World recounts the experience of SMC sophomore Michael Kuzmack. The Saint Mary's student's laptop was stolen from Oliver Hall in the fall of 2010. However, Moraga police detectives were able to recover his computer through the use of anti-theft software embedded in Kuzmack's laptop.
