    Lino Rivera won his first national piano competition at age eight. He won a national music scholarship in high school that resulted in further piano studies in Manila. His numerous successful piano competitions throughout his schooling years led to radio and television broadcasts, notably live concerto performances with the Manila Symphony Orchestra and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra.
