The Pillowman (student production)
When: Wednesday, May 9, 2012 -- 8:00 pm and Friday, May 11, 2012 at 8:00 pm
Where: LeFevre Theatre
The Pillowman is a 2003 play by Irish playwright Martin McDonagh. It tells the tale of Katurian, a fiction writer living in a police state who is interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories, and their similarities to a number of bizarre child murders occurring in his town. The play received the 2004 Olivier Award for Best New Play, the 2004-5 New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best New Foreign Play, and two Tony Awards for production. It was nominated for the 2004 Evening Standard Award for Best New Play.
$10 General Admission, $5 SMC Community

Diablo Wind Symphony

Where: Lesher Regional Center for the ArtsThe Diablo Wind Symphony includes numerous SMC winds and percussion players. Under the artistic direction of John Maltester, they play a spirited range of music, from marches to masterworks.

Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra
When: Saturday, May 19, 2012--7:30 pm (Los Medanos College)
Sunday, May 20, 2012--7:30 pm (Lesher Regional Center for the Arts)
The orchestra closes its season with two masterworks by Beethoven, Leonore Overture No. 3 and Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Piano, plus one of the greatest musical jewels in history, Symphony No. 3 by Johannes Brahms.
Los Medanos College: $10 general; $5 students and seniors. Tickets available at the door.
