The red willows are trees that have adapted to wet conditions and the trees can tolerate periods where they are inundated with water. Various mosses and fungi grow on the trees as well. The unconsolidated soils unfortunately lead to trees falling over, yet new trees sprout from the downed tree trunks. Image shows moss growing on willow reaching skyward.
