Psychology Professor Offers Advice on Coping with Life after Layoffs in Tough Economy

In the Dec. 2 Contra Costa Times, assistant psychology professor Emily Hause offered coping strategies for dealing with the loss of a job in a U.S. economy that has entered recession.

"The classic advice after a layoff is to avoid rushing into a new job and to take time evaluating your options," Hause says. "But, given the economic climate and the magnitude of layoffs, you'll want to get to (the acceptance stage of grieving) as soon as you can."
