Before the College’s sesquicentennial commencement ceremony, a few members of this year’s senior class took some time to reflect on what the last four years has meant to them. Memories abound from their time on campus, and there is certainly a lot about Saint Mary’s that the Class of 2013 will miss.  Here’s what the graduating Gaels have to say:

What will you miss most about Saint Mary’s?
“Definitely all of the people.  The people here are amazing and better than I would have ever expected when I first came here.  They really welcomed me and I was able to make a lot of great friendships since I got here.”

What is your best memory from Saint Mary’s?
“Being a part of the 150th year at Saint Mary’s. Being able to be a senior this year was even more special because we had the opportunity to experience different events that a lot of others would not have been able to do, like the Great Bay Area Day of Service and Gaelebration. Being a part of this whole year was really special to me.”

What do you have planned for the future?
“I will be going to law school at the University of Arizona. It’s really cool because I’m from Tucson and I would always drive past it. Now I’m actually doing it and living that dream.”

What will you miss most about Saint Mary’s?
“One thing I’ll miss most is the community feel that Saint Mary’s provides. I really enjoy walking to class and seeing at least five people I know.”

What do you have planned for the future?
“My plan for the future is to utilize my Theology and Religious Studies degree by managing the funds for a parish once I get my MBA, hopefully from Saint Mary’s.”

What is your best memory from Saint Mary’s?
“One of my best memories is from last year. On one of the last night of finals, my suitemates, friends and I decided to have an impromptu dance party in our suite. We listened to music and just danced until four in the morning and it was so much fun.”

Patrick BettiPatrick Betti

What is one of the craziest things you did at Saint Mary’s?
“One of my best memories has to be from when it snowed. Everyone went up to the top of the Ageno’s, all the way up to the cross, and some of us actually brought our mattresses and slid down the hill on the snow. That was pretty crazy for our freshman year since one of the first things we did was go sledding in the Bay Area, and Moraga of all places. It was pretty fun. That whole night was right in the middle of finals but no one wanted to sleep—everyone was just up and hanging out in the snow so that was really fun.”

What is your best memory from Saint Mary’s?

“The night show of the Vagina Monologues this year when my brother stood up and stated his reason for why there should not be sexual assault. It made me cry.”

What do you have planned for the future?
“I don’t know exactly what I want to do, but I do know that I want to use what I have learned to help people. I want to use everything that I have been taught in a positive and constructive way for the betterment of society.”

What is your best memory from Saint Mary’s?
“My best memory would have to be our Sweet Sixteen run in 2010 when we beat Richmond and Villanova in the NCAA Tournament.”

What is one of the craziest things you did at Saint Mary’s?
Well, when I was a freshman, we did sort of barricade a dorm once. We put a bench on the second story of Mitty so no one could get out! It was pretty funny.”

What is your best memory from Saint Mary’s?
“My favorite memory was going to the NCAA Tournament for my first time as a freshman with the cheer team and cheering on our basketball players. Getting a private jet was really awesome and it was just a cool experience.”

What will you miss most about Saint Mary’s?
“The thing I will miss the most is the Kinesiology department and how close we were to our professors and faculty there.  Mainly I’ll miss how helpful they were and what a close-knit community we were.”
