What: The California State Senate and Assembly will recognize the 2009 -10 Saint Maryâ€™s College of California menâ€™s basketball team for reaching the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament with resolutions from both houses on Thursday, May 6 at 9 a.m. in the state capitol in Sacramento.
The Gaels upset the heavily favored Villanova Wildcats 75-68 last month to advance to the 3rd round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the history of the College.
State Senator Mark DeSaulnier (D-Concord) and State Assembly member Nancy Skinner (D-Berkeley) will present Coach Randy Bennett and several players with state resolutions to recognize the teams amazing athletic accomplishment as the only California team to reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA.
