Saint Mary's College of California will host environmental activist Esther Feldman in a presentation titled "The Environment in the Real World," sponsored by the Liberal and Civic Studies Program and the School of Science. During the October 20 presentation at 7:30 p.m., Feldman will discuss the changing demographics in California and how they impact conservation efforts, as well as the challenges of working on conservation projects in dense urban areas.
Feldman is president of Community Conservancy International (CCI), a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles dedicated to balancing public use of sensitive land and water with the protection of plants and wildlife. In the past 12 years, Feldman has worked to generate more than $3 billion in public funds for conservation projects and the creation of urban parks and recreation facilities.
