Saint Mary's Makes a Statement vs. Davis in Opening League Match

March 5, 2011- In the opening match of the College Premier Division, Saint Mary's Rugby (#4) came away with a win on against U.C. Davis (#29), beating the Aggies 52-10.

Within five minutes MVP Matt Crawford scored the first try to start the ball rolling for A side's win. From then on the game became very physical, which helped the Gaels triumph in the scrums. The Gael’s strategies toward playing Davis lead them to win their first season game 47-10. In a brief interview, kicker Garret Brewer (also MVP) said, "It was a good game and good win. We took a lot of learning points from the game".

With this great start, men's rugby is ready to get another win against San Diego State University. In two weeks, on March 19th, the Gaels will go against SDSU with a home field advantage.
