Saint Mary's Marks 150th Anniversary with Great Bay Area Service Day for Schools
Saint Mary’s College of California is inviting citizens from across the Bay Area — Gaels and non-Gaels alike — to lend a hand for the Great Bay Area Service Day for Schools on March 16, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The College is serving 22 elementary schools across the Bay Area where volunteers will do important work such as building and maintaining school gardens, painting, organizing classroom materials for teachers and other general cleaning and sprucing projects. The schools include K-12 elementary and pre-schools in Concord, East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Oakland, Richmond, San Francisco, San Jose, San Rafael and Union City.
The Great Bay Area Service Day for Schools underscores Saint Mary's mission of social justice and commitment to service for the common good and is part of a series of public forums, academic colloquiums and spiritual programs to mark the College's 150th anniversary.
Individuals who want to volunteer are encouraged to visit yearofthegael.com to find a school location closest to their communities. Groups are encouraged to register and group members should indicate the name of their group so they can be placed together. Registered volunteers will receive details about their service assignment during the week of March 11, 2013.
All participants will receive a Great Bay Area Service Day for Schools T-shirt and a nutritious lunch! Register today and join us!
