Saint Mary's College Graduate Business Programs received a group of undergraduate and graduate students from our partner institution in India, the Mahatma Gandhi Education Society and the Pillai Institute of Management from February 6-15. Their 8-day course "Seminar in American Business and Global Financial Markets" consisted of a combination of lectures from Saint Mary's Faculty, guest speakers from industry leaders including E-Trade, J.P. Morgan, and McKesson Corporation and company vsits to several major corporations including Kimpton Hotels, Wells Fargo Bank, The Federal Reserve Bank, Adobe, Goodwill Corporation, Intel, Genentech and John Muir Hospital.
"Saint Mary's College is pleased to offer this highly innovative global program to our partner institution from India for our sixth year in a row " said Shyam Kamath, Associate Dean & Professor, Graduate Business and Global Programs. "They are exposed to American teaching techniques and American business culture, technology and innovation and are able to gain insights into the most successful business practices that the United States has to offer". In addition to their fully packed days of lectures and visits they were able to enjoy a day in Napa and learning best shopping practices in Union Square in San Francisco. The group capped their final day by performing a visually stunning Bollywoood show for staff, faculty and guests of Saint Mary's College.
Dr. Daphne Pillai Provost and Registrar of the Pillai Institute and the leader of the group said, “Thank you very much putting together all those exciting field trips and lecture sessions which were very illuminating and enriching. Even our engineering students have gained a lot from the exposure they got from the study sessions on finance and financial management.
