How to order software for your SMC owned computer

Ordering software is available for the employees of Saint Mary's College with no charge to the department. Call the Service Desk at 925-631-4266

Employees of the College can request the purchase of non-standard software by filling out a Technology Purchase Request.

If IT Services has negotiated a campus license for the software requested, there will be no charge to your department. In most cases, however, the software will have to be purchased. IT Services has no funding for software purchases and will require a general ledger code to charge the software to.

If the software requested is for classroom use and if the request is made in the academic year that ended before the software is to be used, IT Services will attempt to secure funding for the purchase. If IT Services can secure the funding there will be no charge to your department.

Regardless of the question of funding the purchase of your software, please make sure that you request the software several weeks before the start of the semester in which you wish to use the software. Software installation requests made during the semester are not likely to be successful due to limited access to classrooms during the semester and limited resources. IT Services typically images all classrooms during June and July.
