Come join us for Still I Rise: An SMC Praise Explosion celebrating 50 years of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 this Wednesday, February 19th from 1:00-2:15pm in the Chapel, with a reception immediately following in the Mission & Ministry Center. Come meet and mingle with the artists.
This inspirational event will be comprised of Gospel music, Scripture, and the spoken word. The focus of the celebration is the 50th Anniversary of the passage of the Civil Rights Act, but we have designed a program that is rooted in the spiritual traditions of the Black Community as our entire nation observes Black History Month.
The Mission and Ministry Center has been working closely with Rev. Vickia Brinkley from HR, SEAS Specialist and Coordinator of Black Student Achievement Corliss Watkins, and BSU President Evan Richardson to plan a dynamic celebration this Wednesday. Music from Derrick Hall and Co, Daryl Williams of Progeny, as well as praise dancing from Andrea Spearman and Co, will be featured.
All are welcome!
Sponsored by the Mission and Ministry Center, Black Student Union, Human Resources, Catholic Institute for Lasallian Social Action, and Student Engagement and Academic Success.
