Email services have been fully restored.  You should be receiving email being sent in the present, and also email from the past two and a half days as CaTS staff devised a means to facilitate past email flow using the College's antispam device.  A few notes:

1) Email from the period encompassing the downtime (Tuesday, August 7 at 7am to Thursday, August 9 at 4:30am) should be delivered during the morning of August 9th as the antispam device works through what is now a very large database of held or queued email.

2) Email from external sources during the "lost" period from 6pm Monday, August 6 to 7am Tuesday, August 7 will also be delivered during the morning of August 9th.

3) Internal email (between/among members of the SMC community) during the "lost" period will not show in "Sent" folders, but should be delivered to recipient(s).  If you have a concern that an email was not received, CaTS suggests that you check with the recipient(s) and re-send if necessary.

4) The timestamp that appears on emails that were queued by the antispam device is in many cases misleading, and does not represent the time that the email was sent or received.  We are investigating the cause behind this anomaly, though we are confident with the integrity of all other aspects in email content and delivery.

To repeat, CaTS is very aware that this interruption in mission critical service is inexcusable.  We are very grateful for the patience and understanding that the community has shown us for the past two days.
