Resume, Interview, Business Etiquette, SkillScan, and Internship workshops are offered throughout the school year. Come to the Career Center to sign up.
Most workshops last one hour. Call the Career Center for workshop locations. The workshops that students attend are a significant reason why many employers who interview on-campus say that Saint Mary's students are among the most "employable" candidates they interview.
RESUME
A good resume will set you apart from the crowd. This workshop will teach you how to write an excellent resume and cover letter that will help you get the interview.
INTERVIEW
First impressions do count! This workshop teaches you the basics of interviewing, and how to make the best possible first impression: how to prepare for the interview, what to say and what not to say, how to dress, etc.
ADVANCED INTERVIEW
Offered during the fall and spring recruiting seasons, these workshops are for students who have already attended the Interview Workshop, and they teach you more detailed interviewing skills. Advanced Interview workshops give you the chance to role-play and acquire a better understanding of what interviewers are looking for.
BUSINESS ETIQUETTE
This fun, interactive workshop teaches you the skills you will require if invited to interview over a meal or other social setting. Learn how to shake hands while holding a glass and plate, what foods to avoid, how to sneeze politely, and much more.
INTERNSHIP
Internships offer valuable work experience that can "springboard" you into a career at graduation. In addition, they allow you to try out your interest in a career or industry before graduation. The Internship Workshop covers the basics: what is an internship, and how to find one.
SKILLSCAN
Do you know what you're good at? You better! Potential employers expect you to know yourself. Use this fast-paced, fun SkillScan card sort to uncover your best skills for any career.
CAREER FAIR & RESUME
A workshop that will show you how to create a fabulous resume AND how to successfully navigate a career fair. A must for those interested in attending the SMC Annual Career Fair in October. Only offered in September and October.
