All SMC community members may report alleged violations of the Code of Conduct and other College policies by filling out a Student Contact Report. All Student Contact Reports should be turned into the Office of Community Life at
commlife@stmarys-ca.edu.
• FERPA Authorization to Release Information (pdf)
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords students certain rights with respect to their education records. FERPA also protects the privacy of these records and requires the College to inform all student of the granted rights and safeguards. • Role of an Advisor in the Student Discipline Process
Complainants and respondents in the student discipline process have the right to have an advisor assist them through the discipline process when the case they are involved with is heard by the Disciplinary Hearing Board (DHB). A list of trained advisors may be obtained in the Office of Community Life.
• Appeal Request (pdf)
A student may appeal the outcome of a disicplinary hearing within (5) business days of the decision. Only one (1) appeal is permitted. Such appeals shall be submitted in writing, signed by the student and delivered to the Assistant Director of Community Life and shall consist of: (a) a completed Appeal Request Form; and, (b) a statement outlining and supporting the specific basis upon which the student is appealing.
