Alcohol & Drug Intervention
The Alcohol and Drug Intervention Program at the Counseling Center consists of Direct Service, Consultation, Education, and Training. Our prevention goals involve promoting campus-wide programming and education which provides relevant information to allow students, faculty, and staff to become aware of their own behaviors, attitudes, and/or conflicts associated with alcohol and drug use.
Direct Service consists of evaluation of students to aid in the assessment of an alcohol/drug problem and providing treatment or facilitating a referral to an appropriate practitioner or agency in the community.
The Program Coordinator provides consultation to faculty, staff, athletic coaches, residence assistants, students, and parents who desire input regarding issues related to alcohol and other drugs. Consultations may include: Determining the extent of an individual's problem drinking or drug use; How to help facilitate a referral to the Counseling Center; or How to appropriately intervene with an individual whom you suspect of having a drinking or drug problem.
