diversity Student Organizations
The Intercultural Center works very closely with the 12 diversity student organizations at Saint Mary’s College. Several times throughout the academic year, many of these groups come together for various events, including the Diversity Dance and the Diversity Retreat. They meet once a month for the Diversity Org Council (DOC) in order to collaborate with eachother and the Intercultural Center.
Asian Pacific American Student Association (APASA) The Club fosters a strong sense of community among Asian-American students and their colleagues, and provides an opportunity to learn about various Asian cultures by holding weekly meetings, community service opportunities and other special events. Black Student Union (BSU) The Club enhances the experience of black students by holding frequent meetings, sponsoring social events, and hosting guest speakers to explore issues in education, politics, history, economics and culture affecting the African-American community. Business and Accounting Latino Association (BALA) BALA of Saint Mary’s College strives to enhance the career and leadership growth of Latino students through networking and advising opportunities. BALA is committed to promoting diversity within the Accounting and Business professions. Club activities provide students with the skills necessary to excel in Corporate America. Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) The Gay Straight Alliance is a club chartered by the Associated Students of Saint Mary's College for gay, lesbian, bisexual and heterosexual students and their allies. Members plan social, educational and cultural activities for the benefit of their members and the whole campus. They also sponsor the Day of Silence Project for Gay/Lesbian Youth. Humans Actively Practicing Aloha (HAPA) Club The Club creates a welcoming environment for all Hawaiian students, while teaching and sharing the traditions of the indigenous people of Hawaii. Email: hapa@stmarys-ca.edu
International Club The Club promotes understanding and communication among international students, American students and the community through social and educational activities; participates in many activities including an international fair where students join together to share food, music and dance from many cultures around the world. Intervarsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF) The club is an interdenominational group dedicated to helping members grow in their relationship with God. Intervarsity provides weekly small group Bible studies, community meetings, retreats and fun events to help meet students’ spiritual needs.

Latin American Student Association (LASA) This Club serves as a vehicle for the expression and teaching of Latin American culture and heritage; provides a tutorial program to assist Latin American students; and sponsors activities in academic, cultural, political and social areas of student life.
