Room Swap
The room swap/change process for Spring 2010 will take place beginning Monday, Febraury 22, 2010 and will end on Monday, March 1, 2010. The process guidelines are as follows:
- Room swap/change requests can be made between Monday, February 22nd and Wednesday, February 24th through the Campus Housing Office located on the second floor of Ferroggiaro Hall.
- Room Swap: when two or more residents want to request to SWAP rooms amongst themselves.
- Residents are expected to find their own place in which to move. Once the student has found a new location, both the student who is moving in and the student who is moving out must come to the Campus Housing Office together to complete Room Swap Requests Forms. All students moving from one room to another must complete a form. At this point, the Assistant Director of Campus Housing will initial the form as received.
- The Campus Housing Office will then give the Room Swap Request Form back to the students. Approval must be indicated with the signature of the Resident Director and Resident Advisor. The purpose of your signature is to ensure that students are not being “forced” out of their rooms, and to ensure that you have discussed the swap with one another. Please make sure that the move is acceptable to all parties involved.
- Residents involved in an approved SWAP will have until 3pm, Thursday, February 25th to obtain all necessary signatures and return their request forms to Campus Housing for approval. Their move timeline will be created by the Campus Housing Office and corresponding RA’s & RD’s will be notified accordingly.
- Room Change: when a resident requests to be moved from their current room type (ex. Double), to another room type (ex. Single).
- Residents will be assigned a new room (if possible) by Campus Housing. Residents involved in a CHANGE will have until 3pm, Thursday, February 25th to obtain all necessary signatures. Their move timeline will be created by the Campus Housing Office and corresponding RA’s & RD’s will be notified accordingly.
- Once a completed form is received from the student, the Campus Housing Office will then:
- Sign the form with final approval
- Note the move-in and move-out deadline for the swap on the form
- Give a new key and a copy of the form to the new RA
- Give the old RCR and a copy of the form to the old RA
- All RA’s involved must arrange a check-in/check-out time with the student within the deadlines noted on the form.
- ALL MOVES & SWAPS will be completed no later than Monday, March 1st.
- REMINDER: The room swap/change process is NOT intended to be used as a solution to a current roommate conflict. Please ensure that you are following all proper procedures when dealing with a roommate conflict.
