First Year Students
Your successful transition, from high school to Saint Mary’s, begins with Orientation and continues through the academic year. The following information will help you in your first college year.
Orientation
All new freshmen are required to attend one of the four Orientation sessions where you will spend the main part of your day in small groups with an academic advisor who will help you register for classes and learn about our academic requirements. Be sure to register for Orientation before the May 30 deadline to reserve your spot in your preferred session.
Prior to Orientation, you should review our academic requirements, submit your medical evaluation form and health insurance information (www.chickering.com), and look over the Gael Guide, your resource for navigating your freshman year at Saint Mary’s.
Weekend of Welcome
All resident and commuter students are expected to participate in the speakers, events and programs that are planned during Weekend of Welcome from Thursday, August 28 through Monday, September 1.
You will also attend your first Collegiate Seminar class during Weekend of Welcome, so be sure to complete the reading given to you at Orientation.
