Jennifer Herzog began as Director of New Student & Family Programs in April, 2012.  She comes to Saint Mary's with over ten years of experience in Higher Education in the areas of Student Involvement and Leadership, Campus Programming and Orientation.  Jennifer received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and a Master of Education from DePaul University.  

In addition to her role in New Student & Family Programs, she also serves as Resident Director in More Hall.  Jen's favorite day of the year is Move In Day; she loves welcoming the newest class of Gaels and their families into the Saint Mary's community.

annAnn Clay
, Administrative Assistant, began her career at Saint Mary’s in 2005 working in Student Life’s Campus Housing/Community Life Offices, and the Residential Experience Office.  Now working in the Office of New Student and Family Programs, her task is to assist the office in providing students and families with information and resources to help make their registration and orientation experience an informative and memorable one.

Ashley Carroll (Sophomore, Redondo Beach, CA) is an Economics major. She loves reading and playing tennis in any spare time she has. She is most excited about being an Orientation Coordinator because it'll enable her to be more involved in the Saint Mary's community she loves so much. She is excited to welcome the new students to Saint Mary's beautiful campus!



Mike Jones (Junior, Laguna Beach, CA)  is majoring in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy. He is involved on campus as well as in the community through the Saint Mary’s club volleyball team and the after school program at Del Rey Elementary school. In his spare time he loves to play basketball, volleyball, and take long walks on the beach. As an Orientation Coordinator, he is even more excited to continue helping new students make a home here at SMC!


Mike Leland (Sophomore, Manteca, CA) is currently studying Politics with a minor in Math. In his spare time he enjoys playing intramural sports at Saint Mary’s and spending time with family and friends. He is a huge sports fan and loves attending games and cheering for Saint Mary's in the Gael Force rooting section. He is thrilled to welcome the new and outstanding new students to Saint Mary’s College of California!

Kathlene Andres (San Bruno, CA)

I am a senior Business Administration major with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. On campus, I am involved in the Polynesian Club and Jumpstart. I spent one semester studying abroad in Seville, Spain and got to explore different countries. Off campus, I enjoy playing basketball, shopping, and spending time with family and friends. My time at Saint Mary's has been indescribable and I cannot wait to help this incoming class make unforgettable memories too!


Vanessa Bass (Freshman, Van Nuys, CA)  

I just finished my first year at Saint Mary's College and absolutely loved it.  I am currently a Communications major with a double minor in Theatre Arts and Dance.  So far, I have involved myself with the Saint Mary's Dance Company along with the spring play Antigone(s).  I also participated in some of the first year retreats and made a lot of great friends through those activities.  Being able to show my school pride through Gael Force and playing intramural volleyball have allowed me to thrive in my new environment here at Saint Mary's.  I am  looking forward to meeting all of the future Gaels and welcoming them to SMC! 


Phil Camperi (Pasadena, CA)

I am a sophomore Business Administration major with a minor in Economics. My on-campus involvement here at Saint Mary's include being the President of Gael Brotherhood, the Concert Coordinator's assistant for the Campus Activities Board, a KSMC radio host, and a student worker for IT Services. Outside of school, I enjoy participating in action sports (snowboarding, skateboarding, body-surfing, etc.) and spending time with friends and family. As an Orientation Leader, I am beyond excited to welcome the first-year students into the SMC community! Go Gaels!


Theresa Campion (Elk Grove, CA)

 I am a senior and a Liberal and Civic Studies Major on the Teachers for Tomorrow track. I am also a dance minor and member of the Saint Mary’s College Dance Company. I am an active member at the Mission and Ministry Center on campus. I love Saint Mary’s and all the opportunities it has for its students. I am so excited to meet the incoming Gaels.


Deena Flores (Sophomore, Arroyo Grande, CA)

I am a sophomore majoring in Business Administration. I am involved in a number of committees on campus that strive towards the betterment of the college experience for every student. When I am not busy with school, I enjoy spending time outdoors or in the city with friends. I am so incredibly excited to meet all of the incoming Gaels and show them how truly amazing the Saint Mary’s community is!


Nicholas Flores (Freshman, Sacramento, CA)

I am a majoring in Politics and minoring in Business. I am involved in Orientation and am a student member of Teacher Rank & TenureCommittee. Outside of school, I enjoy playing with my dog, the company of family & friends, and partaking in a good laugh. I cannot wait to help make the transition from high school to Saint Mary’s College of California a fun and easy process for the incoming class of 2018!


Alexa Gambero (Fresno, CA)

I am a first year student and a Communication major. On campus, I work as Copy Editor of our newspaper, The Collegian, I am part of the Gael Alliance Program, and I co-host two radio shows on KSMC. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, telling stories, and having picnics in the park with my friends. I can’t wait to meet all of the new students and show them what Saint Mary’s is all about!

Jazmin Guinto (South San Francisco, CA)

I am a senior from South San Francisco majoring in Business Administration and minoring in Psychology. I love being so involved in the SMC community as Senior Class Senator, executive member of Gael Force, and Chair of the Student Rank and Tenure Committee. I also loves sitting outside and enjoying the sun with friends and a Starbucks cup in her hand. I look forward to another year of orientation, meeting all of the incoming students, and making sure they come to love their new home as much as I do!


Alex Kummert (Seattle, WA)

I'm a third year student, Communication Major from Washington. I enjoy video games and Stand-Up Comedy in my spare time. Some of my favorite things about Saint Mary's are the lack of rain, the small class sizes, and that there are french fries everyday in Oliver Hall. I can't wait to get to know new students and help them in their first step in the rest of their life as a Gael!


Bridget Lanigan (San Juan Capistrano, CA)

I am a first year Business Administration major. I am an active member in Senate, committees, and Relay for Life. I enjoy playing volleyball, volunteering, and socializing with friends outside of school. I cannot wait to share my amazing first year experience with the newest Gaels! I have been so blessed to come to this school and I cannot wait to welcome the students into the Saint Mary’s community!


Valeria Martin (Freshman, Concord, CA)

I am a freshman and a Politics major with a minor in Communications. On campus, I am involved with Hermanas Unidas, the Saint Mary’s Glee Club and will hopefully join the Ballet Folklorico Guadalupano dance group. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, cooking, and doing anything that involves music and dance. I love attending a small school where it’s easy to form strong relationships with so many people and get the attention needed to succeed. I’m excited to be an Orientation Leader for the first time and can’t wait to see the incoming freshman fall in love with Saint Mary’s as much as I have! 


Ranjay Matharu (San Ramon CA)

I am a Freshman Economics major with a minor in Environmental Science. I'm an active member in club soccer and the honors program and work for both RecSports and the Admissions office here on campus. I really enjoy hiking both on and off campus and prefer to be outside and around nature rather than inside. I love the attractive campus and inclusive community Saint Mary's has to offer and I'm extremely excited to meet and welcome the incoming Freshman to it.


Kelsey Nestor (Sacramento, CA)

I am a third year in the Integral program from Sacramento, CA. In addition to being a full time student, I nanny for a family in the Moraga area and hostess at a restaurant in Lafayette. When I am not in class or working, I enjoy activities such as hiking the Moraga hills with my dog, cooking and baking, or catching BART into the city with friends. I am looking forward to welcoming the first year students to the wonderful life of a Gael!!


Stephen Oldfather (Danville, CA)

I am a sophomore and a communications major, with an ambition to become a broadcaster. I am on the Executive Committee of the Gael Brotherhood; I have two radio shows on our campus radio station, KSMC; I work for the Saint Mary's athletic department, and I play on the club baseball team. Outside of school I love to coach youth baseball, work out, and socialize with my friends. I am incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to be an Orientation Leader here at Saint Mary's, and I am excited to give the incoming students a great first step into college, and to ensure they have the same amazing experience I have had at Saint Mary's.


Jordan Ramée (Fremont, CA)

I am an English Major with a Creative Writing Emphasis. I am currently an editor for the poetry and fiction genres in riverrun, a literary magazine at SMC, and I plan on working for CILSA as their Media & Communication Coordinator. My free time is spent playing video games and volleyball, watching anime, and working as a journalist and YouTuber. I am excited to share my experiences with the next generation of SMC students and forming new bonds with my fellow Gaels!


Amanda Templeton (Shingle Springs, CA)

I am currently a first year Nursing student and I work in the Residential Experience office here on campus. Outside of school, I enjoy playing tennis, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with my friends. My first year at Saint Mary’s has been such an amazing blessing. I love the close community atmosphere, and I am looking forward to welcoming the new first year students and helping them begin their journey at Saint Mary’s!


Caroline Thierry (Walnut Creek, CA)

I am a first year student studying health science with an interest in politics.  I am a member of the Gael Sisterhood, the Saint Mary's Honors Program and Moraga Tutors.  In my free time, I like to hike the beautiful hills surrounding campus, re-watch the Harry Potter films and hunt for the best coffee shop in the area.  I look forward to welcoming the students to Saint Mary's College of California!


Maria Tuite (San Francisco, CA)

I am currently a pre-medicine Biochemistry major here at Saint Mary’s. Throughout the past year I have been involved on campus with Senate, RecSports, and the Residence Hall Association. I am excited for next year to continue planning fun events for on-campus residents. As summer approaches, I am really looking forward to welcoming the incoming students to the Saint Mary’s community I have come to know and love


Makana Ward (Manteca, CA)

I am a Business Administration major with an emphasis in Finance. I enjoy playing and coaching baseball at my local little league. I also enjoy going to explore in the woods around campus and rooting for our basketball team in the Gael Force student section. I currently play baseball for the club baseball team and look forward to getting more involved on campusstarting with meeting all of the new students!


Guy Whittall-Scherfee (Carmichael, CA)

I am currently a first year student, with a major in Physics and a minor in English. I am a member of multiple organizations on campus including the residence Hall Association, CILSA, the Sports Band, and the Dante Club. I love the outdoors and have spent countless hours exploring around the Sierra Nevadas. I enjoy traveling around the world and relaxing with my friends. I have been blown away by all of the opportunities to make a difference on campus and am looking forward to showing the new students just how much they can do at Saint Mary’s.
