The Office of Residential Experience is very intentional about creating an environment that is conducive to study, complementing the experience students have in the classroom, and helping students develop the skills of citizenship.

Students spend more time out of the classroom in their college careers than inside. The experience of living on campus in a residence hall is one that is often undervalued or lightly considered. The Residence Halls are not simply a place to live.

We are committed to fulfilling the Lasallian tradition by creating a living environment, which fosters the academic, spiritual, emotional and personal growth of each resident, while developing in each student a sensitivity to his/her fellow peers, helping the residents become active members of the community.

While living in the Residence Halls, students can expect the following:

  • To work through various levels of personal and interpersonal development.
  • To understand what Saint Mary’s means by striving to be a campus of inclusive excellence.
  • To practice face-to-face communication skills.
  • To follow community standards, including expectations, method(s) of accountability, & appropriate consequences.
  • To develop a sense of personal background & cultural contributions.
  • To gain an appreciation of others’ backgrounds & cultural contributions to the community.
  • To increase self awareness & reflect on personal & social values.
  • To connect with classmates in healthy social settings.
  • To increase ability to connect and have fun with others without the use of alcohol.
  • To gain the ability to take personal and social responsibility for the development of their residential community.
