2009 Leadership Awards

SMC students, faculty, and staff submited nominations for student leadership awards.

Awards were presented at the Courage to Lead Leadership Celebration on Thursday, May 5th.

Student Leader of the Year
One award will be given to a student who stands out as an exemplary student leader in all areas, including scholarship, service, vision, and impact. Please be very specific when identifying your reasons for nomination.

Criteria:
• Outstanding contribution to the campus community
• Creativity and innovation in leadership
• Significant impact on the student body
• Minimum GPA of 3.0

Student Leader of the Year WINNER: Lauren Scranton
Rising Star Award
The Rising Star Award is given to students who demonstrate:
• Leadership potential
• Positive attitude
• Current involvement in cocurricular activities
• Desire to contribute to cocurricular life at SMC
• First-year or Sophomore standing
• Minimum GPA of 2.75
It is not necessary to hold an office or position

Lasallian Leadership Awards
The Lasallian Leader award is given to students who, through their leadership and involvement, exemplify one or more of the Lasallian Core Principles which, as you know, are:
• Faith in the presence of God
• Concern for the poor and social justice
• Respect for all persons
• Inclusive community
• Quality education
Some nominees may go “above and beyond” exemplifying one or two of the principles while others may demonstrate all five. A minimum GPA of 2.75 is required.

SMC students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit nominations for student leadership awards and student organization awards.

Nominations will be submitted to a selection committee for consideration. The deadline for April 20 for Leadership Awards and April 24 at NOON for Club Award.

Awards will be presented at the Courage to Lead Leadership Celebration on Thursday, May 5 and the Student Organization Awards Reception on Wednesday, May 13.
