Weekend of Welcome
Your first weekend as a Gael will get you acclimated with all the resources, programs, and services offered at Saint Mary's College.
Our faculty, staff and students are excited to welcome you home to Saint Mary's College as our newest class of Gaels. Your guides for Weekend of Welcome are Student Leaders, who will answer your questions, give advice and show you around!
After move-in day, you, as a new student, get to take part in Weekend of Welcome — four amazing days of activities that focus on coursework, programs that complement the curriculum, and activities that will help you get acquainted with your new home. Some of the events include New Student Convocation, participation in students' first academic classes, and a nighttime carnival. Activities range from your first advising meeting, to our annual Saturday of Service, to the Scavenger Hunt around San Francisco and the Farewell Dinner.
Important Information
Move In
New students attending New Student Orientation Session 4 and transfer students move in on Tuesday, August 21, 2012. All new students who have already attended a New Student Orientation move into the residences on Thursday, August 23, 2012.
Alcohol EDU - Incoming First Year and Transfer Students
Every incoming first-year student is required to take Alcohol EDU for college and pass the course. Students will receive information via email with instructions on how to complete this course. Students will be able to access the website beginning July 25th and Part One of Alcohol EDU will need to be completed no later than August 17. Further information about completing Alcohol EDU is available through the Health and Wellness Center.
Health Insurance Waiver
In order to waive participation in the Health Plan, students must have comparable coverage through another insurance plan and complete the online waiver form at Health Net. Waiving insurance for the fall semester will automatically waive insurance for the spring semester and enrolling for insurance fall semester will automatically enroll the student spring semester, without exception. The online waiver/enrollment process opens on July 1, 2012 and closes on September 5, 2012.
Saturday of Service
A signature day of the Weekend of Welcome is the Saturday of Service. To learn more about the service opportunities, visit CILSA.
