Students from Saint Mary's College and other independent colleges plan to protest a proposed cut to financial aid awards in Sacramento on Wednesday, March 9 was the subject of a story in the Oakland Tribune.

The students were going to lobby the Legislature to protect Cal Grants from further cuts. The governor has proposed cutting the maximum Cal Grant award for students in private schools, while protecting the award offered to students in public colleges.
