Program Highlights

After you've settled into your accommodation either on or off campus, we head off down to the beach on Monday morning with Deakin International office crew and a bunch of Australian students who have studied abroad themselves. We travel along the Great Ocean Road, voted by 'Conde Nast Traveller' magazine as the number one out of 20 'must do' great drives of the world. This coastline is truly one 'kodak moment' after another. The area includes the world-famous Twelve Apostles, the Otways rainforest and Australia's most famous surf beach, Bells Beach, on the Surf Coast.

We base ourselves for three days, two nights in the resort town of Lorne. Days are spent in a range of activities like surfing lessons, hiking through the temperate rainforest and sightseeing along the Great Ocean Road. In the evenings you'll be able to rub shoulders with the locals at the Lorne night spots. Or you can do nothing at all, it's up to you ... relax on the beach or hang out at one of Lorne's many cool cafes with your new friends. This really is a time to relax and soak up the ambience of this wonderful country!

The program also features sessions on making the most of your time in Australia, from how best to meet Aussies to tips on traveling in Australia.

On the third day, you return to your campus of study with a bunch of new mates, Australian and international, who will no doubt become your support network for the semester that awaits you.

Application Requirements

Minimun 2.8 GPA, open to students who are sophomore, juniors, and seniors.

Application Details

Student must complete the SMC Application, Lasallian Consortium application and the Deakin University application. Students can download the PDF at www.deakin.edu.au/future-students/international/study-abroad/applying.php. Students will need to submit with their application: a copy of their passport, an official
transcript, and two passport photos.
