What: Superbly Independent: Early California Paintings. 93 landscape paintings by three pioneer Western women painters; catalog, color illustrations with essays by Jean Stern, Erica Esau and Julie Armistead.
Too often, tenacious and talented early women artists receive less attention from the art world than their male counterparts; this exhibition intends to balance the scales of artistic scholarship by focusing on the abilities of these three deserving artists.
