Saint Mary's is listed as one of the best colleges in the nation in the Princeton Review's annual guidebook "The Best 378 Colleges: 2014 Edition." The review says Saint Mary's is one of the best institutions for undergraduate education in the country, citing its academic rigor, small class sizes, student access to professors, quality of life for students and its commitment to sustainability. Only about 15 percent of the nation's 2,500 four-year colleges and only four colleges outside the USA are profiled in the book.
Economics is a social science which centers around the utilization of limited resources to provide the goods and services society desires. Economists study how business and personal decisions are made in various kinds of markets under conditions of scarcity, as well as uncertainty and incomplete information. They also provide insight into solving both short- and long-term problems, including those involving investment and savings decisions, and stability of the economy.
