4/27/2010-- SMC Head Coach Colin Knightly was recently announced as the 2010 WCLL Coach of the Year. This is Colin's second season with the SMC Gaels.

March 13, 2010- The St. Mary's Rugby team traveled to Sacramento to face Sacramento State in a Northern California League Rugby match. The Gaels took first blood as we scored first, with a try by Jimmy Wallace and a Jamie Borup conversion. Hornets quickly responded and it was 7-7.But Sac State would not die
without a fight. Kyle Batten scored for the Gaels, Borup converted again and it was 14-7. A Tim Maupin score made it 19, and Sac State got a penalty kick to make the score 19 -10 at the half.

Men's Rugby Defeats Chico State on the Road 47-17

March 6, 2010- The Gaels traveled to Chico State University this Saturday for a Northern California League match up. The Gaels took no time to to capture the lead early and held a very comfortable lead the entire match. St. Mary's found great pace and support all day to help defeat Chico 47 to 17.

February 27, 2010- Men’s rugby won an important rivalry game against UC Davis.  The final score was 29-6.  Saint Mary’s lost their first match of the season to Davis back in January. 

Men's Volleyball defeats UC Merced

February 26, 2010- Saint Mary’s Men Volleyball hosted the UC Merced on February 26.  The Gaels aced the Golden Bobcats 3-0.  The set scores were 25-22, 25-19 and 25-23.

Merced started the match with serve in their possession.  Saint Mary’s starters were players 41, 11, 24, 17, 34 and 21.  Captain Steven Meneges, number 24, led the Gaels all three sets with his powerful spike and occasional block.  The Gaels utilized the fake spike, which fooled Merced throughout the match.
