American Scientist Magazine Publishes Poem By English Professor Brenda Hillman

The May/June issue of American Scientist magazine features a poem by Saint Mary's English Professor Brenda Hillman. The poem "Summer Mountain Lightning & Some Music,"  which references the pioneering electrical engineer and inventor Nikola Tesla, is among several works by noted poets featured by the magazine over the last year as poetry inspired by science. The online version of the magazine notes Hillman's other literary publications and her academic ties to the College, acknowledging her as the Olivia C.

Poet Matthew Zapruder joins the MFA and English Department Faculty

Dear Saint Mary's community,
The MFA Program is pleased to announce that poet Matthew Zapruder has accepted a position in the English Department at Saint Mary’s College. Poets currently in the program will be working with Matthewin Craft of Poetry this spring; he will begin his fulltime appointment in the fall, 2013, when he will be teaching the Workshop in Poetry.

Tenorio’s Provocative Short Stories Cast Light on Economic Disparities, Immigrant Experience

Lysley Tenorio’s debut collection of short stories, Monstress, has drawn widespread acclaim, with glowing reviews by the Los Angeles Times, the Paris Review and NPR, among others.
