ARN- Saint Mary’s was victorious over Chico State, racing out to an astounding 63-0 lead at halftime. The Gaels unloaded their bench and won 84-19.

January 10, 2009-- ARN-. #4 St Mary’s was given a stern test by Sacramento State in the first half of their game, but the Gaels won going away in the second period as the Hornets weren’t able to stem the tide. SMC led 17-12 at halftime before pulling away for a 56-19 final scoreline.

After a stellar men’s 2007–08 rugby season that ended with a Final Four appearance and a No. 2 national ranking, Saint Mary’s is looking forward to another successful season on the pitch.
“Every year is a unique journey,” says coach Tim O’Brien. “We have a blend of brand-new players with some veteran players.”

December 12, 2008-- Saint Mary’s overwhelmed #13 Cal Poly 40-10 in a much anticipated matchup in San Luis Obispo, CA.
American Rugby News was on the ground to report on the big game. ARN--The SMC set piece and lineouts were strong and the rucking was solid, although they were a bit slow to use what was usually quick ball.

December 6, 2008— Saint Mary’s beat Sacramento in the opening round of the Northern California season on Saturday. “It was a 36-14 win for the a side, and a 22-17 win for the bside,” reported team president, Blake McGhan.

Nov. 7, 2008--The SMC Men's Rugby team departed on Friday morning (by bus at 4:00am) for a weekend tour in Provo, Utah. The team launched their season with a 6:00pm match against Utah Valley (W, 31-22 ) and a 7:30pm scrimmage with BYU.
