The Staff Council is proud to sponsor a presentation by Chief Diversity Officer Tomas Gomez-Arias followed by an Open Forum discussion.  The meeting will take place on January 12th in Hagerty Lounge (De la Salle Hall) starting at noon. Francisco Herrera Sings for 8 PM Mass - Jan 10

Dear Saint Mary's Community:

Francisco Herrera, social activist/politician and musician, will lead music at the 8 PM Mass this Sunday, Jan 10.  Francisco recently visited our campus for the Music for Change event put together by a class in Sociology and MMC.  He returns to celebrate the Eucharist with bilingual selections that will draw our community to deeper faith in Christ.  Please join us.

Environmental Impact Opening

Summer Graduate Professional Advancement Series

Courses can be taken for Academic Credit or CEUs (Continuing Education Units):

The Continuing Education Unit is a nationally recognized unit designed to provide a record of an individual's continuing education accomplishments. For teachers, 10 hours of instruction equals one (1) Continuing Education Unit. For counselors, 10 hours of instuction equals 10 hours of continuing education for MFTs, LPCCs and LCSWs. CEUs are sometimes part of criteria used for promotion and salary increases in some school disticts. Continuing Education Credit is also required for license renewal for MFTs, LPCCs, and LCSWs. (Saint Marty's College Graduate Counseling Program is a BBS pre-approved provider of CEUs, No. PCE #701.) Courses taken for CEU credit DO NOT carry academic credit.

2015 Staff Handbook

For the first time the Office of Human Resources offers a keyword searchable staff handbook online in order to facilitate your user experience and to support our campus' sustainability goals. You can view different sections by choosing a section in the blue navigation area on the left sidebar or scroll down to the table of contents below. You also now have the option to print a specific section of the handbook or download the complete handbook which includes a new index to help make searching a specific topic easier.

Do you have a suggestion for a policy? If so, please use our online form found in the section called Request a Change (right after Appendix B). Our staff handbook committee will be reviewing recommendations and suggestion submitted on this form twice a year in the Summer and Winter to determine the need for updates.

To Whom the Staff Handbook Applies

This Staff Handbook as amended from time to time is intended to inform individuals employed in or assigned to staff positions at the College of their benefits and obligations as an employee of the College. Staff positions cover all positions at the College other than faculty appointments to teach. Individuals employed at or assigned to the College who hold faculty appointments (whether tenure-track or non-tenure–track) to teach are covered by the Faculty Handbook.

Staff Employees Who Concurrently Hold Faculty Status

Individuals assigned to work at or who are employed by the College in a staff position (i.e., in any non-teaching role) and who concurrently hold faculty appointments to teach must also refer to the Faculty Handbook, as they may be covered by applicable provisions of both this Handbook and the Faculty Handbook, depending on the context and their role (staff or teaching) in which a work-related situation arises. When an individual has both staff and teaching responsibilities and, as a result holds concurrent staff and faculty status, the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources or designee, in consultation with the Provost, makes the final decision as to which handbook controls the particular issue(s) and/or conduct.

Please read the Handbook carefully and return the acknowledgement form (Appendix A), signed and dated, to Human Resources. This Handbook may be amended from time to time. You will find the most recent version of the Handbook by following the links below.
