Pre-Finals and Finals Hours, Fall 2015

At the request of the students, the Library has once again added additional hours in order to allow more time for student study during pre-finals and finals week. This is thanks to the cooperation of Public Safety.  Beginning Monday, December 1st, the Library will remain open for study hall until 3 AM, and beginning on Sunday, December 6th at 10 AM, the Library will be open 24 hours until Thursday, December 10th, when the building will close at 9 PM.  Please remember that in the extended study hall hours there are no services.  The additional hours are for quiet study only.

Banned Books Week 2015!

Welcome to Banned Books Week at the Library. From September 27-October 3, the Library is featuring an opportunity for the SMC community to hold, read, check out, and take a mug shot with a collection of banned or challenged books.

There are about 30 books to choose from but this is a tiny sliver of the total number of banned or challenged books in the US, and indeed, the world.  The purpose of highlighting this week is to make you reflect on why books and ideas are challenged, and hopefully to also inspire you to read a banned or challenged book!
