The deadline for the Business Idea Competition is approaching

The Center for Regional Economy's Business Idea Competition on March 4 in the Soda Center is your opportunity to practice pitching your unique business idea. Selected presenters will have an opportunity to work with industry expert coaches and further develop their idea and pitch before the competition.

Writer Pamela Michael, Director of The Center for Environmental Literacy and co-founder (with Robert Hass) of River of Words, leads this workshop with Dr. Raina J. León, using time-tested techniques from ancient China that make creating poetry fun, memorable and anxiety-free. Participants will also make journals, learn new ways to bring nature into the classroom, as well as how to utilize schoolyards and field trips effectively.

Expanding Our Social Justice Impact

During this event we will outline the history and impact of the MOMS program (an alumni-staff initiative that offers leadership training to women transitioning out of Santa Rita jail) and offer time for alumni to think about and connect with others who are interested in building a program or initiative through which alumni can share their leadership skills and education with others who have little access to leadership education. 

Staff Council Implements New Process at January 14th Meeting

At its January 14th meeting, Staff Council is introducing a new procedure for its open session from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. Something on your mind? Attend the meeting and fill out an Open Forum Speaker Card. Take advantage of the opportunity to address the Council for 3 minutes on a topic or idea that is important to you or your department. The Council could decide to agendize your topic for a future meeting where it can be discussed in greater depth.
