Election 2014 Symposium

Student leadership is hosting a symposium on the statewide ballot initiatives and the mechanics of voting on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1-2:30 p.m. in Dryden Hall. Paul Burgarino from the Contra Costa Election Department Voter Education and Engagement will explain the nitty gritty of the voting process, including the definition of a statewide ballot initiative. Kay James and Ann Flynn from the League of Woman Voters will discuss the pros and cons of the statewide ballot initiatives. The entire Saint Mary’s community is invited to attend.

Latin American Film Festival

The Department of Modern Languages will be hosting a Latin American Film Festival from 10/16 to 11/5.  The goal of this film festival is to introduce students and the campus community to the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries in Latin America as depicted in contemporary cinema.

Films include:

 10/16 in Hagerty (6:30 pm)
*"Después de Lucía" (2012), a Mexican coming of age film that discusses bullying and gender violence among young adults in a wealthy suburb of Mexico City.

Scheduling Software Update

The newly updated Request a Room form and Master Calendar will be available beginning Monday, October, 6 at MY SMC.  Our first get a room workshop will be Thursday, October 9 at 10 a.m. in the Soda Center. 

Tuition Exchange Application Period

Saint Mary's is beginning its 14th year as a member of the Tuition Exchange Program (TEP).  This program provides the opportunity for eligible family members of full-time faculty and staff to receive scholarships at one of the participating member institutions.  A list of over 630 colleges and universities that participate in TEP can be found on their web site www.tuitionexchange.org.

Community Partners Day - Community Engagement

Faculty members, take advantage of this on-campus opportunity to mix and mingle with Saint Mary's College's Community Partners.  Over thirty-five non-profit agencies will be on campus during Community Time on Wednesday, October 8th from 1:00-2:30pm in Hagerty Lounge to discuss ways they can partner with faculty for Community Engagement courses.  These courses often require up to one year of advanced planning to ensure for mutual success.  So come explore the possibilities.  (Community Partners will be guests of the College for lunch from 12:00-1:00pm, with a welcome from Richard Carp, Vice

The "Get your ducks in a row" Career Fair is coming! Next Wednesday, De La Salle Quad will be teeming with representatives from 116 organizations - commercial, non-profit, government, and graduate and law schools - and, we hope, with hundreds of students!. Join Saint Giles Episcopal Church on Sunday, October 5th, for a celebration of the Feast of Saint Francis. This feast day will begin with a celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 9:00am in the SMC Chapel, followed by coffee hour a Blessing of the Animals on the Chapel Plaza at 10:30am.
