Applications Reach Record Level

At the first year student application deadline in February, applications totaled 3,706 — the highest in College history. The number is 18.6 percent higher than last year and 15.9 percent higher from the average of the previous four years.
Vice Provost for Enrollment Michael Beseda attributes part of the increase to strategic recruitment initiatives, including improved communications messages and materials, targeting and development of new recruitment territories and an online portal for every undergraduate prospective student.

Molly Allen, 18, of Providence, R.I., is a regular in the Mission and Ministry Center who volunteered to make a Facebook friend site for the founder of the Christian Brothers.

Brickpile Briefs

Saint Mary's was the only institution of higher education in the Bay Area named to the 2009 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction by the Corporation for National and Community Service. This is the highest federal recognition a school can achieve for its commitment to service-learning and civic engagement. This is the fourth year in a row Saint Mary's College has earned the honor.
