U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Mark DeLuna has received several leadership awards for his service in Iraq, including the Bronze Star and two Meritorious Service Medals. As operations officer with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, he was also recognized for his participation in a disaster relief operation on Leyte Island in the eastern Philippines and support missions in Mongolia and Indonesia. DeLuna is now chief operations officer for the Joint U.S. Military Assistance Group Philippines and is based in Manila, where he lives with his wife and three children. He was commissioned on the day he graduated from SMC in 1987.
