Saint Mary's College Of California

training services

CaTS Training Services provides the Saint Mary's College Community with a variety of technology training options ranging from instructor led courses, online self paced courses, webinars and more. While we try to offer training for free, we may have to charge for certain training materials (for example reference/course books that the participant can take with them after the course) or for bringing expert trainers to the Campus.

In our first year of existence (2006-2007) we taught 100 courses with 628 faculty, students and staff participating. Our offerings focus on applying information technology in learning and teaching at Saint Mary's.

We support multiple platforms: 79% of our courses are in support of Windows (PC) users. A healthy 21% of our courses address issues specific to Mac users on campus. It is not a coincidence that these numbers (79% PC and 21% Mac) also apply to the distribution of PC and Mac computers on campus. We will continue to provide a 'non-sectarian' approach to supporting faculty, students and staff with technology training.

In our second year we will provide additional training for users of Microsoft 2007 (PC) and 2008 (Mac), as well as glimpses of the Vista operating system, which the College may start to deploy in 2008.
