The Politics of Crime and Punishment

Jeanne Woodford is the Executive Director of Death Penalty Focus, a national non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public about the death penalty and its alternatives. She previously served as Warden of San Quentin State Prison, where she oversaw four executions. She will talk about the political and social realities of criminal punishment.
CA Senator Mark DeSaulnier will discuss the current state of California’s prison system and the serious need for reform.
Ron Ahnen, an Associate Professor at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, will discuss the social and financial cost of the prison system.
