The Most Reverend Richard J. Garcia, Bishop of Monterey, has been invited by the Henning Institute to speak.
Bishop Garcia will focus on his statement that the youth of today are a vital part of our lives and should be a vital part of our concern and ministry. In his Pastoral Letter to the People of God and all who serve in the Diocese of Monterey, he outlines four major priorities to confront and attempt to alleviate the situation of gang violence in the area.
Bishop Garcia is known in his diocese as the bishop of the people. His heartfelt concern and leadership offers hope and solution to the many challenges confronting Church and society today. The Bishop’s address will illuminate in a special way the role of the Church in the conversations we have on campus around ways to bring about a more just society.
Students, faculty and staff are welcome. Bishop Garcia’s talk will be followed by a Mass.
