This program is designed for new Title IX investigators or those who have had limited training  in investigations. It will provide attendees  a basic foundation for Title IX investigative processes. This program is team-taught by two experienced lawyers and is designed to teach all of the practical skills necessary to conduct  an investigation into any allegations  of sexual harassment and sexual misconduct under Title IX.

Participants will learn:

  • Practical skills such as how to ask effective questions,  interview reluctant witnesses,
    interview the accused, assess credibility, reaching a conclusion,  documentation, and disclosure of
    results;
  • Special issues pertaining to Title IX investigations relating to confidentiality, special needs for reluctant witnesses in sexual assault investigations, burden  of proof; and
  • How to prepare  and utilize all of the necessary documentation which is needed as part of an investigation.
The presenters  have developed a series of case study modules so that the attendees can begin applying the skills they are learning in concrete ways. This program is also extremely fast-paced  and interactive.  PowerPoint slides are utilized along with the presentation, and in conjunction with the program  workbook.
