June 16, 2009-- The Saint Mary's Rugby program was honored to have three members from the team recognized by USA Rugby as 2009 National Collegiate All-Americans.

Chad Clark at Flyhalf, Brendan O’Meara at Center and Brandon Vedder at #8 were selected to this elite team, which consists of only 44 players out of an estimated 20,000 participants. The selections were made by a panel of eight members who had the daunting task of assessing player skill and leadership throughout the collegiate season and the collegiate All-Star Championships.

In addition to these selections, Ryan Martens at Center and Nick Wallace at Prop were named to the All-American Honorable Mention list, which included a total of 30 players. The Gaels were thankful to see the selection panel honor Martens whose season was cut short because of an early season-ending injury.

This year's All American honors are a testiment to the strength of Gael Rugby, as SMC coaches continue to produce some of the best players in Collegiate Rugby year after year.
