“An injury to one is an injury to all,” industrial union labor workers have said throughout time. Activists, community organizers, students and scholars have the most capacity to contribute to change when they look at how the issues of race, gender, class, sexual orientation and identity intersect and collectively impact us all.The 2013 Wo/men’s Conference, Take Action: Reshape Your World strives to empower women and men to be introspective in their own lives, make socially responsible choices, and take action to make their communities, classrooms and spheres of influence more just places. This year’s conference offers three tracks:1.) Change Begins with you: Leading from Within2.) It Takes a Village: Effective Community Activism3.) How to be an Engaged Ally.Collectively these tracks promise to equip participants with the tools necessary to transition visionary ideas into reality, to practice lives of congruence, to create inclusive space, to overcome bystander mentalities, and most importantly to lead by example.Register for a free sponsored ticket.Register for regular admission to the conference.*The views of the speakers and presenters do not necessarily represent the views of Saint Mary’s College of California. |
