Featuring Internationally Acclaimed Composers Libby Larsen and Sandra Milliken with Renowned Poet Francisco Alarcón
We hope to see you at the Symposium where we will explore questions like:
Why does a composer choose one poem over another?
Are some texts suitable to music than others?
How might different composers set the same texts?
What commission/commissioner parameters influence a work?
The Words In Music Symposium is co-sponsored by WomenSing’s Youth Inspiring Youth Music Commissioning Project (Martín Benvenuto, Artistic Director), in conjunction with River of Words in The Center for Environmental Literacy at Saint Mary’s College (Pamela Michael, Director).
