What: Mastering Direct Conversations: Keys To Effective Leadership.
Workshop description: Organizations spend a lot of time and energy on developing strategy, clarifying goals, and generating necessary policies and procedures, while avoiding direct and honest conversations. Consequently, real and significant interpersonal and interdepartmental issues and conflicts go underground and seriously undermine the organizations effectiveness. In this workshop we will focus on the twin skills of 'high performance under pressure' and 'navigating difficult conversations', employing principle and practices from Aikido and contemporary theories in constructive communication and conflict resolution.
Workshop Presenters: Barry Smith has worked as a consultant in leadership development, team effectiveness, and communication skills, and has 30 years experience in mediation, conflict resolution and group facilitation. He has worked extensively with executive teams in organizations in both for profit and not for profit sectors on organizational alignment, innovation, collaboration as well as leadership development.
Ken Otter has over twenty-five years experience as a facilitator, educator, and consultant with individuals, small groups, and organizations in academic, public service, not for profit and business settings.
